Wedding Dress Wednesday :: Brides and Bridesmaids

This week’s collection pairs a wedding gown with an appropriate bridesmaid option. You know the saying, “You can totally wear this dress again”. Personally, I have yet seen any of my nine bridesmaids in their black, full length silk ball gown. Here are four bridesmaid dress options that you can surely wear again.

1) Fit to be Tied: This stunner of a number screams svelte and chic. The trumpet silhouette flares at mid-thigh. The peau de soie satin has a natural matte luster and is flattering to most body shapes. (Lara Hélène Bridal Atelier; $3000+)

Little Miss Sunshine: The flattering scoop neck dips just low enough to show off the colar bone. The bow is the updated version from the 80’s but in a classier manner. If the bow is not your style, it is removable. (Thread; $290)

2) Tiers in Heaven: The hand-beaded lace bodice with Swarovski crystal accents add sparkle to this eye-catching gown. The mermaid silhouette has a natural waistline and multi-tiered taffeta bands that lengthen to a chapel length train. (Rina di Montella; $1500-3000)

Spring Breeze: This strapless chiffon dress is perfect paired for a late champagne and cake dessert reception. The lightly pleated midriff and hem mimics the bride’s gown without stealing the spot light.  (Wtoo; $175)

3) Shirred Bliss: A simple and sweet a-line dress is often a good choice. The bride is always the center of attention and glowing, there is not need to compete with a dress. The slightly shirred bodice and waist deemphasizes the waistline and draws the eye to the shoulders. (Siri; $250)

Hit the Floor: The floor length taffeta dress sets the mood for a formal, but fun wedding. The shirred sweetheart neckline and sweep train will look great at the altar. After the wedding, take the dress to a tailor and cut the dress to a knee-length dress to make it more versatile. (Love by Enzo Ani; $150-$250)

4) Arsenic and Lace: This lethal lace dress has a taffest obi-like band around the waist and silk flowers. The gussets in the skirt had a bit of swing to the step. (Mikaella; >$1500)

Straight and Narrow: This A-line silk dupioni dress comes in a variety of colors. Strapless and knee-length combination elongates the body. (Elon Michelle; $225)

Remember, when looking for a dress for your bridal party, look for options that are forgiving on the body, not everyone is a size two and 5’7”. You can choose a color and have your bridesmaids pick from a certain store (ie J Crew) to ensure you have the same color or pick a color (ie. any black dress, knee-length). Another option is going through a custom dress company that offers a variety of silhouettes, necklines, fabrics and price points.
