Real Wedding :: Christina and Geoffrey
To continue the retro inspiration from today’s Wedding Dress Wednesday, here is a look at Mad Men’s own, Christina Hendricks’ (aka Joan Holloway) wedding. Why would AMC deprive us Joan’s wedding in Mad Men? I was so disappointed when the new season started and we did not see ONE picture from the grand event. Her small and intimate IRL wedding will have to suffice.
The couple became engaged in December 2008 after Vincent Kartheiser (Pete Campbell), introduced them. In September, Christina said to E! News, “We really wanted it to be filled with our absolute best friends and our family. We didn’t want to spread ourselves too thin and we really wanted it to have a warm environment, so we kept it with the tightest people.”
Christina Hendricks exchanged vows with Geoffrey Arend in front of 70 guests on Sunday, October 11, 2009. The ceremony and reception took place at II Buco restaurant in New York, according to People.
Her dress strapless star burst design concoction was designed Carolina Herrera. According to Hendricks, her dress has “a bit of Sophia Loren to it, but really, it’s a Christina Hendricks dress” (Instyle Wedding). I completely agree! (Carolina Herrera; $6000). Her bustle is the prettiest bustle I’ve seen.

Henna designs adorned her feet and hands
She walked down the aisle on the arms of her father and wore a blusher veil over her face
Her bridesmaids wore a mix of vintage dresses and accessories.
